Real Madrid were after Chelsea star Eden Hazard last summer, but the forward continued with the English club this season.
Last August, the Belgium international’s father admitted his son could have joined Los Blancos if Zinedine Zidane was still in charge of the 13-time European champions.
The La Liga giants reappointed the Frenchman as their manager on Monday, and it is no surprise that reports of Hazard to Real Madrid have already resurfaced.
Het Laatste Nieuws claim Zidane’s appointment means the west London club now need a miracle to retain their star as he is expected to join Real Madrid in the summer.
The Spanish capital club ‘officially contacted’ the Blues last month and expressed their interest in signing the 28-year-old, whose contract at the club runs down in 2020.
At the time of contacting Chelsea, Zidane was not at the club and his return will only push the former Lille man towards the exit door at Stamford Bridge. Zidane is Hazard’s idol and the former is said to be keen to have the attacker in his side next season.
The transfer ban and Hazard’s contract situation makes it complicated for Chelsea. HLN reports that if Maurizio Sarri’s side consider to sell, they will demand €115m, but Madrid value him around €100m.
After previous disappointments, the Spanish club have kept the contacts alive with the player and he got the boost on Monday when Zidane’s return to the club was confirmed.
If Chelsea’s transfer ban is not overturned and Hazard leaves them, it will be a big blow for next season.
