Since Crystal Palace share-owner John Textor completed the purchase of Botafogo, it was never really clear how close the ties between the Brazilian and the Premier League sides would be.

The Rio de Janeiro side recently completed the loan arrival of Sebastian Joffre, and it’s known that officials have been travelling to England to learn more about how things work at the London club.

Now it turns out that Botafogo’s new signings are actually getting approval from Crystal Palace as well. That was revealed by club official Alessandro Brito in an interview with Estadão today.

Explaining how the market analysis has been done since John Textor’s arrival at the club, the official explained there are several layers of approvals for them to get a player, and one of them comes from England.

“All the names that are suggested must have the endorsement of three fronts: the scout department, the Crystal Palace staff, who help us with reports, and the technical staff,” Brito told Estadão.

“We are looking for a No.9. We get information that Botafogo has, that the coaching staff has, that Crystal Palace have. We gather, go to the market and reach a consensus. An athlete does not appear out of nowhere. They are athletes, generally, selected to form this new format of the club.”

For now, it only seems like Crystal Palace are giving Botafogo a hand to rebuild themselves. Now it might get interesting once the Brazilian club start growing again and can provide the Premier League side some signing opportunities.
