Liverpool are eyeing up a move for Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic as Jurgen Klopp eyes a reinvention of his midfield this summer.
That’s according to FC Inter News, who say that Liverpool are looking at Brozovic alongside Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
They explain that Klopp wants a ‘director’ for his midfield and Brozovic is one of the three names he is currently looking at.
A year ago, that was a negotiation which would have been completely dismissed by Inter given the importance of the Croatian in the Nerazzurri’s midfield.
However, the situation has now changed, with Hakan Calhanoglu practically replacing him as the player sitting in front of the defence and set to renew his deal.
That’s put Brozovic’s future into doubt, especially as he currently earns over €6m a year net, thanks to the contract he signed a year ago. That opens the door to a possible move and Liverpool potentially being able to get him.
At the moment Brozovic is happy in Milan and has no plans to leave but if that figure is considered too much by those in charge of the club, that could change.
Everything at Inter is determined by the finances involved and they know they would be able to ‘cash in a significant sum’ from a player who is no longer key and who is 31-years-old.
An offer would be taken ‘into serious consideration’ and all that remains to be seen is whether Liverpool move for him or target other names first.
