Atalanta are again interested in Sheffield United defender Anel Ahmedhodzic, according to reports from Italy.
Outlet TuttoAtalanta today writes that the player’s name returned ‘forcefully’ to the Serie A side, ahead of a potential move in the January window.
The report recalls that Atalanta failed to sign Ahmedhodzic three years ago, long before he joined Sheffield United, and are ‘now competing’ for his arrival again.
The Bergamo side would have the competition from Napoli, although there are not many details on who have the more advanced talks for the transfer.
Recent reports from the Italian media claimed that Sheffield United are demanding €20m, and wouldn’t give a discount in the talks for him.
Ahmedhodzic has 15 appearances for the Blades this season, and has even been captaining their side lately, so it does make sense that they won’t just let him go for a low price.
Now in case Atalanta are really ready to fight Napoli for his transfer, perhaps that potential auction will result in Sheffield United getting the price they want for his sale.
