Stuttgart would ‘have nothing against’ Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos staying at the club, but the decision is very much in the Gunners hands.

The Greek defender joined the Bundesliga side on loan in the summer, with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta having made it clear he was not a part of his plans.

He’s been a regular for them since, making 11 appearances in all competitions, a number that would be higher if a groin injury and torn meniscus hadn’t ruled him out at the beginning of the campaign.

His loan deal at the club does not include a purchase option, and so, it’s expected he will return to Arsenal in the summer.

However, according to Fussball Transfers, Stuttgart would be open to another deal if the Gunners are willing to sanction it.

They state that Mavropanos has brought ‘decent performances’ this season when he’s been available, and the Swabians would ‘probably have nothing against’ continuing the cooperation.

However, a ‘firm commitment’, in other words, a permanent transfer, would be too expensive for them, so they would need another loan deal.

Thus, it depends on what Arsenal want to do with him. If they believe he is one for the future and are willing to sanction another loan, then Stuttgart will happily take him.

If not, and they decide that a sale suits them better, then it appears the German side will not be in the running.
