It seems Real Sociedad’s plan to sign Sergio Gómez from Manchester City this summer may not last very long.
As Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo today shares an update on this pursuit, they highlight that there’s been ‘no progress’ in talks for the fullback.
Manchester City are said to be demanding €15m for the sale, and Real Sociedad are simply ‘not willing to pay’ anything close to that.
The transfer fee isn’t the only issue, as Gómez has a Premier League-level salary, which would also require some effort to get near.
Mundo Deportivo make it clear there’s ‘no easy resolution’ to this case, and even though there may be a formula possible later in the window, it’s already time for Real Sociedad to look at other targets.
Gómez, who arrived at Manchester City in a €15m deal from RSC Anderlecht in 2022, rarely got chances to play for Pep Guardiola’s side last season. He made 15 appearances, most of them with some minutes at the end of matches, and that’s probably why the La Liga side thought he’d be an affordable signing.
