Having already rejected loan offers from both Cagliari and Hellas Verona for Aleksandar Mitrovic, Newcastle United have made it rather clear they aren’t all that interested in seeing the Serbian forward leave.

Of course, if Rafa Benitez were to get one more striker in, the 22-year-old’s future would be under consideration, but for now that isn’t the case.

However, that doesn’t mean the Serie A sides are done with their attempts to sign the former Anderlecht star, as reported by Tuesday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

According to the Italian newspaper, Verona are still pushing a lot to get a deal done for the Serbia international as they try to bolster their attacking options for a long season following their promotion from Serie B.

Revealing after the 3-0 win over West Ham that he had received quite a few offers from clubs around Europe, Mitrovic reassured everyone at Newcastle that, for now, his head was at St James’ Park and nowhere else.

Furthermore, the Geordies are said to not be interested in a loan, and barring a sudden influx of cash at Verona, that’s all the Serie A side are likely to be able to afford for now.
