Khouma Babacar to Crystal Palace really is a thing now, as Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday report the Senegalese forward could be on his way to Selhurst Park for around €15m.

While the Eagles are yet to put an official bid forward, the Italian newspaper believe they are ready to spend the aforementioned amount to secure the services of the 24-year-old currently playing second fiddle to Giovanni Simeone at Fiorentina.

Furthermore, the Serie A side will wait until money is put on the table before making a decision about their striker, but there is a belief they wouldn’t be opposed to a sale if they liked what they saw.

Despite scoring just five goals and picking up two assists in 17 appearances, Babacar’s rate of a goal every 92 minutes is one of the best in the league, and there are signs he could end up being a prolific goalscorer if he gets consistent time on the pitch.

With Christian Benteke to contend with at Crystal Palace, that might not come straight away, but considering the Belgian has struggled to put the ball in the back of the net this season, a couple of goals here and there could quickly put him in contention for a starting role.

There’s a certain amount of optimism here this could get end up happening.
