Loaned to RWD Molenbeek last season by Crystal Palace, Jake O’Brien could very well be returning to Belgium in the near future.
That’s according to Sacha Tavolieri, who took to Twitter to bring the latest on the Eagles youngster, who is attracting attention from abroad.
Crystal Palace’s Ireland U21 international was a regular for the Challenger Pro League side last season, and caught the eye with his performances, as Troyes in France, part of the City Group, and the very same Molenbeek are after him.
It’s said the Belgian club have ‘not lost hope’ of keeping the 22-year-old on a permanent basis despite the interest of the Ligue 2 club.
In fact, Tavolieri adds that Crystal Palace’s relationship with Molenbeek through Eagle (meaning John Textor) could ‘facilitate the deal’, but ‘nothing is done just yet’.
We’ll have to wait and see whether the owner of both clubs wants to sort out an intra-network transfer in the next few weeks, or whether Troyes, who are likely to have a bit more money, could influence matters.
