Newcastle United’s interest in Corinthians youngster Pedrinho is now being backed up in the Brazilian media.
Earlier this week, it had been website Goal Brasil who revealed the Magpies’ chase for the 17-year-old.
It had been claimed that Newcastle were competing with several European sides for the signing, and Corinthians are expected to receive offers in the summer window.
Now as UOL features an update on the player’s situation, they confirm that the Magpies are one of the clubs in the race.
Their story starts by saying that Corinthians have already told clubs they ‘do not intend to negotiate’ Pedrinho, as they believe they must enjoy his development there before he becomes the club’s ‘biggest sale’ ever.
Speaking of potential buyers, UOL mentions Newcastle, Brighton & Hove Albion, Borussia Dortmund, Ajax, PSV and Zenit, but they claim that no offers have been made for the player so far.
Pedrinho has just made his debut for Corinthians’ first team at the weekend, and certainly caught attention from scouts when playing in Brazil’s U-20 South American title this year.
