Never tired of battling legal issues, it seems Barcelona may now need the help of Chelsea to explain something to FIFA.
As reported by AS, the Catalan club are being accused of not being completely honest regarding the transfer of Marcos Alonso last summer.
The complaint was made by Adarve, the fullback’s former club, who believe they should be entitled to the solidarity mechanism payment from that operation.
Barcelona signed Alonso on a free move from Chelsea, or that’s how they officially announced. The problem is that, in the same window, they also sold Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the Blues.
Adarve believe that it was all the same operation. Especially because the Stamford Bridge side signed the striker for only €12m, and that amount is believed to be below his market value.
The Madrid club then claim that Chelsea signed Aubameyang for €12m plus Marcos Alonso. And in case the Spaniard had any value in that transaction, then his former club will be entitled to the solidarity mechanism payment.
The case should now go to the hands of FIFA, who’ll decide if Barcelona were telling the truth or not. According to AS, the Catalan side have many arguments to believe they won’t be proven wrong.
