Napoli are moving away from a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Max Kilman as they don’t want to match the Premier League side’s demands.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport and columnist Enrico Fedele, who say the Italians may give up on their efforts to sign the defender.
Corriere explain that the negotiation for Kilman ‘does not unlock’ with Wolves, so much so that those in charge at Napoli are now looking at alternatives.
Signing a centre-back is a priority for the Italians after selling Kim Min-jae to Bayern Munich and Kilman is the ‘number one on the list’ of targets to do so.
However, Wolves have valued the defender at €40m during negotiations and that isn’t a price Napoli are willing to pay. In fact, that figure is ‘too much for Aurelio de Laurentiis’ tastes’.
“Why hasn’t the blue club yet replaced Kim Min-jae with a new central defender?” he said.
“The fact is simple: Napoli want a player from abroad to take advantage of the Growth Decree but are finding it difficult for Wolverhampton’s Maximilian Kilman.”
The tone is a very clear one at this point, unless Wolves lower their demands or open up to a deal that Napoli can agree on, they’ll be taking their interest to other parties.
