Newcastle United’s William Osula has emerged as a new target for Real Betis late in the winter market.

Real Betis are working on bringing in a striker to provide Manuel Pellegrini options in the attack for the second half of the season.

Their failure to secure other targets has seen them now shift their focus on the Newcastle player.

That’s according to El Correo de Andalucía, who state the 21-year-old is an option for the Spanish club.

Newcastle took the 21-year-old from Sheffield United last summer and he’s been limited to eight substitute appearances in the league.

Alexander Isak is the first-choice striker for Eddie Howe and has constantly impressed for the Magpies. This has forced Osula to settle for a backup role and Real Betis want to offer him an escape route.

Howe has insisted it’s best for the Denmark U21 international to continue at Newcastle, but that won’t stop the Andalusian club.

El Correo de Andalucía state Real Betis are ‘moving’ to try and sign him on loan probably with an option to buy.

Estadio Deportivo state the Newcastle player is ‘gaining strength’ to improve Real Betis’ attack late in this window.

They also report Los Verdiblancos are negotiating to sign Osula on loan with a purchase option. Newcastle and the frontman have a decision to make over a move to Real Betis.
