A permanent move from Celtic to FC Twente is not considered ‘illogical’ for defender Gustaf Lagerbielke but any move is a question of his price tag.
That’s according to Twente Insite, who cover the situation around the defender today and how a permanent transfer could happen.
They explain that Twente director of football Arnold Bruggink is currently working hard in what is proving to be a chaotic winter transfer window for him and the Dutch club.
Lagerbielke is currently on loan from Celtic, but the deal does not include an option for them to make it permanent.
The defender has been a key player for the Dutch side this season but what happens to him in the future remains to be seen.
He is valued at around €2m by Celtic, who paid €3.4m to sign him in 2023, and he has a contract at Celtic Park until 2028. Reports in Scotland have stated that the Hoops would want €1.5m to let him go this month.
Twente Insite report that if Bruggink wants to make something happen, ‘a bag of money’ will have to be put on the table. They seem to believe that it will take more than the €1.5m quoted in Scotland.
They do say, though, that Twente making a move to sign Lagerbielke permanently from Celtic ‘would not be an illogical follow up’ given he is now well established in the team and doing well.
They’ll need Celtic and the defender to cooperate, though, which is another matter entirely, particularly in the latter days of the January transfer window.
