Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke is a potential target for Portuguese club Braga this summer as they look for defensive reinforcements.
That’s according to O Jogo, who report that Braga have made an offer worth €2m for the 25-year-old after he returned to Celtic from a loan spell at FC Twente.
The newspaper reports that Lagerbielke has been well regarded by Braga’s scouting department for some time. The club’s president, António Salvador, is now in negotiations with Celtic. He has presented an initial offer worth €2m.
Braga are well stocked when it comes to defenders at this moment in time but several in their squad have suitors and could depart this summer. The Portuguese club are therefore looking at Lagerbielke in case of that eventuality.
The defender spent last season on loan at Twente from Celtic. They are also interested in keeping him permanently and could compete with Braga for his signature. To beat them to the deal they’d have to improve on their €2m offer.
Braga believe that he is a centre-back with ‘good game reading’ and technical ability, two conditions that manager Carlos Vicens appreciates highly. His ability in the air also a plus point in their evaluations.
His current value, at least according to Transfermarkt, is €3m, so it remains to be seen if Celtic will accept Braga’s initial offer or push for more in negotiations.
