Two stories appeared in the Brazilian media over the past week, detailing Andreas Pereira’s desire to leave Manchester United this summer. The claims were hugely complimentary to him, suggesting they’d come from someone very close to the player.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was said to have asked Pereira to stay, pleading with him to change his mind about leaving Old Trafford, and there was interest claimed from Valencia, and other unnamed clubs in Spain and elsewhere.

That was followed by English claims of interest from Benfica, which quickly caught the attention of the Portuguese media.

Record make it very clear that they’ve been told the claims are false, insisting Benfica have no plans to sign the Manchester United this summer, whether that would be a loan move or a permanent transfer.

There’s also been a distinct lack of Spanish reports about Valencia interest, with Pereira’s time on loan at the La Liga side often talked up to seem far more successful than it actually was.

A Manchester United exit still looks on the cards, but it would seem the player doesn’t have the level of interest the media are being encouraged to believe exists.
