Bayern Munich are looking to secure an agreement with Anthony Gordon, before then pushing Newcastle United on their asking price.

Fussball Transfers report comments from the Bayern Insider podcast today, and journalist Christian Falk, regarding Bayern’s plans for the 25-year-old.

Bayern efforts heating up

The website reports that Bayern’s efforts for the Newcastle United star are ‘heating up’. According to Bayern Insider’s information, figures have been exchanged between the player and the German club.

Reports elsewhere in Germany have stated that reaching an agreement at this level is not seen as an issue. In other words, Bayern are confident they can reach an agreement with Gordon.

The German champions appear to be pushing towards a deal for the Newcastle forward. That comes after a report earlier this month explained why they see plenty of benefits to a deal.

Falk now explains what their strategy is. It seems they want an agreement in place player side, to then potentially push Newcastle on their asking price.

“Bayern’s plan is to reach an agreement with the player,” he explained.

“That they say: If he transfers, it will be to Bayern. If Newcastle needs to sell because they need money due to Financial Fair Play and because they won’t qualify for the Champions League, and he clearly commits to Bayern, then Bayern has the chance to drive down the price.”

Strategy shaping up

Whether Bayern Munich’s strategy will be successful, of course, is another matter entirely. The signs are, though, that Anthony Gordon will be available.

He will undoubtedly have looked at the levels that Michael Olise and Luis Díaz have hit since their moves to Säbener Straße from the Premier League. The former, in particular, could be a competitor for the Ballon D’Or this season.

If the Newcastle forward has similar aspirations, a move to Bayern could be ideal. And with the German side already planning, the idea seems to be on track to becoming a concrete move.
