Earlier today, we covered reports from South America claiming that Manchester United are interested in renewing the contract of Facundo Pellistri.
It was claimed by journalist Cesar Luis Merlo that the Red Devils will meet the 21-year-old’s camp to speak of a pay rise and a new expiry date, as his current deal runs until 2025.
It turns out that the Brazilian media also shares some updates on the Manchester United youngster, and that’s regarding the interest of Grêmio in his signing. Journalist Talis Andrey writes that the Tricolor made an ‘official’ offer to sign Pellistri. They wanted a loan deal, with no fee, and would cover his entire salary.
Manchester United, however, turned them down. It’s claimed that the player is expected to stay in Europe for now.
This isn’t the first time Pellistri has been linked to a Brazilian club this year, as his lack of playing time in England has drawn interest from South American sides.
The Uruguayan youngster has eight appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side this season, and had a few minutes in the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday.
