Three days ago, we covered claims from Italy that Al-Ittihad dream of signing Aston Villa’s Moussa Diaby this summer.
On Friday, Sportitalia journalist Gianluigi Longari stated the Saudi club have agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old. He also said they will start talks with Aston Villa to find an agreement over the transfer fee.
Longari took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say Al-Ittihad have ‘opened negotiations’ with Aston Villa for the forward.
He adds the Middle East club are facing ‘strong competition’ from others, without making any mention of the details of the club[s] that have shown interest in the France international.
Despite this, Al-Ittihad ‘hope to reach an agreement’ with Unai Emery’s side to sign the player.
Another Italian journalist Rudy Galetti also took to X to claim the Saudi club have made an offer of $55m [£42.4m], and are ‘confident’ of convincing the Villans with this proposal to secure Diaby’s services.
That feels on the low side.
He makes no mention of Aston Villa’s stance, but says ‘developments are expected’ in this case.
Diaby joined the Premier League side from Bayer Leverkusen last summer, and managed 10 goals and nine assists last season.
