AS Monaco have inquired about Watford midfielder Nampalys Mendy, who could leave Vicarage Road before the end of the month.
That’s according to Foot Mercato. The website reports that the 33-year-old is attracting the attention of several European clubs, including Monaco.
The Watford midfielder is the subject of several discussions behind the scenes. Arka Gdynia in Poland have already made a move with an 18-month offer. They’ve offered to make him their highest earner in the squad and a key player as they eye Europe in the medium term.
But they’re not alone in the pursuit. According to FM’s information, Monaco have also inquired about his situation.
They have numerous injuries in midfield and could do with an addition in the area. Mendy came through the ranks at Monaco, playing in their U19s, B side and then first team, where he made 80 appearances in total.
He left for Nice in 2013 before a €15.5m move to Leicester three years later. He joined Watford I August on a free transfer after two years with Lens but now could be set for a return to France this month.
That will require Monaco making a firm move for him. At this point, they appear to just be making enquiries at Watford about him.
