Earlier in the transfer window, we covered a claim from Belgium that RWD Molenbeek hadn’t given up hope when it came to keep Crystal Palace’s Jake O’Brien.
The defender spent last season on loan at the club, where he impressed, which is why they were thinking about extending that stay, perhaps permanently.
With John Textor owning both Crystal Palace and RWDM, it was believed his connections could facilitate a deal, and DH now continue that train of thought on Monday.
They state the young defender was a ‘true revelation’ throughout the campaign, and was one of the key reasons why they lifted the Challenger Pro League title.
Now returned to Crystal Palace, O’Brien is being targeted by other clubs, such as Troyes in Ligue 2, but DH state he could ‘well return’ to RWDM next season.
That’s because the club have made him ‘one of their priorities’ in the transfer market, as they look to bolster their squad for a tough season in the Jupiler Pro League.
Whether Textor will help make that happen remains to be seen, but it would make sense to keep him within the Eagle family, just in case he continues to grow, making him easy for him to return down the line.
