Sevilla are ‘not bowing to pressure’ from Jules Koundé and Chelsea to allow a sale, insisting that the Blues will have to pay his release clause to get him.

That’s according to Sport, who say Chelsea have only ‘offered a proposal’ worth €50m for the Frenchman so far.

They say that with the transfer window in its final hours, Koundé seems to be further and further away from joining Chelsea, despite the player’s desire to ‘force the issue’ by refusing to travel with Sevilla for the clash with Elche.

The two clubs have been in ‘constant negotiations’ about a deal, but the Andalusians are waiting for an offer that doesn’t seem to be forthcoming.

Chelsea have already seen a proposal of €50m rejected, and Sevilla have now made it clear that either they will come close to his release clause or the player will not leave.

Another issue is that Sevilla would have to find a replacement for the Frenchman with very little time left in the window to do so.

That is likely to force them to pay more than they should, something Sevilla, who are very careful with their money, absolutely do not want to do.

That is why those in charge at the Sánchez-Pizjuán believe it would be better to keep Koundé for one more season and look to sell next summer.

They’ve ‘made it known’ to Chelsea that they will not give in to pressure from them or Koundé and so will remain if the Blues don’t offer up the €70-80m they want.
