Following Manchester City’s reported interest in Ferdi Kadioglu, we now have another story involving Fenerbahçe and the treble winners.
This comes from A Spor in Turkey, who explain that to replace their star, the Süper Lig side aren’t looking very far and could take him from the Etihad.
They reveal the Turkish side have set their sights on Sergio Gomez, who has never managed to fully make his way into Pep Guardiola’s first-team plans at Manchester City.
The 23-year-old arrived from Anderlecht in a €15m move back in 2022, and this season has seen him play just 13 times across all competitions, with one assist.
He has rarely been injured, but he has struggled with the arrival of Josko Gvardiol, who has made the left-back role his at Manchester City.
That’s why the idea of him leaving and the Cityzens getting someone else to provide more competition for the Croatian isn’t such a crazy one, with Fenerbahçe already making their moves.
It’s said the Turkish club have ‘made a move’ for the defender, and want to add the Spaniard to their squad ‘at a reasonable price’, having already ‘started preparations for negotiations’.
A Spor also state his current market value is set at €10m, which is what he is down at on Transfermarkt, but it would be surprising to see Manchester City want to make a loss on him, meaning they would probably ask for at least €15m to green light a transfer.
