West Ham United goalkeeper Alphonse Areola has drawn the interest from France, according to local reports.
As written by Mohamed Toubache-Ter on Twitter, Lorient placed a ‘firm offer’ to sign the 29-year-old.
There’s no information on how much is on the table for Areola, who’s valued by Transfermarkt at €8m.
But West Ham are reportedly working to hold him, as according to Toubache-Ter, the London side are ‘keeping’ the player ‘for the moment’.
Areola joined the Hammers in the summer of 2021 on a loan from Paris Saint Germain, and the move was made permanent with a €9.3m deal last year.
This season, he made 11 appearances for West Ham, with eight of those being in the Conference League, where he’s the starter, and was used a little in other competitions as well.
So even though Lukasz Fabianski is the number one at the club, perhaps the minutes given to Areola by David Moyes in cup competitions is what could convince him to stay in London for longer, while the club seems to work to hold him at least until the end of the season.
