Swiss side Grasshoppers are cursing their luck after Wolverhampton Wanderers elected to bring Theo Corbeanu back to the club.
That’s according to 20 Minuten, who quote coach Bruno Berner as saying the youngster was the “best dribbler” in the league this season.
Corbeanu had been on loan with Grasshoppers since June last year after the special relationship between the two clubs facilitated a deal.
He’s been a regular for them this season, making 16 appearances in the Super League and managing five assists and one goal.
However, Wolves relationship with the club has now come to an end after MLS’ Los Angeles FC bought a majority stake and added them to their growing network of clubs.
That has seen Corbeanu ‘ordered back’ to his parent club Wolves, something Berner is unhappy about as his side have lost the “best dribbler” in the league according to him.
He now needs to find a way to replace him while it remains to be seen what happens to Corbeanu for the remainder of the season.
Given he’s spent the last few years on various loan deals away from Wolves it’s likely another will be secured for him before the end of the window, perhaps in one of the lower leagues given his previous spells with Sheffield Wednesday, MK Dons and Blackpool.
