Regional Turkish newspaper Taka report Trabzonspor are looking to sign a central defender in this transfer window, and Sunderland’s Papy Djilobodji is a target for the Turkish club.
Trabzonspor are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next season and Taka say Sunderland defender Djilobodji is an option.
The Senegal international is likely to want a move this summer after the English club’s relegation from the Championship, and Sunderland will be hoping to get the player’s wages off their accounts.
The 29 year old spent the last season on loan at French side Dijon, and Trabzonspor are hoping to sign him on a similar deal.
According to Taka Trabzonspor’s new manager Unal Karaman is keen to bring in the Sunderland player as he thinks defensive reinforcements this summer are a priority for the Turkish side.
Djilobodji still has two years left on his Sunderland contract and last season the club had to subsidise his wages in France.
