The Catalan media are now pushing Youri Tielemans forward more seriously as a candidate for Barcelona next summer.
With the club looking to sign free agents, the Leicester City player has caught their attention, and Sport say he’s someone who has been on the Blaugrana radar for years.
They’re aware they won’t have it all their own way, with Liverpool also credited with an interest in the midfielder. With Jurgen Klopp perhaps not having the finances to go for all his first choice transfer targets, getting Tielemans to Anfield could be a shrewd move for Liverpool.
Sport say Barcelona see Tielemans as a ‘high quality’ but low-cost replacement for Frenkie de Jong, should Barcelona finally be able to get the Dutchman to leave his big contract behind.
De Jong will be ‘back on the market’ in June, with the Catalan side looking to get a big fee and rid themselves of his wages in the process.
According to Sport, the Leicester City player would ‘adapt perfectly’ to Barcelona’s style, and is therefore an increasingly serious option for them. They’ll have to watch out for Liverpool and other Premier League sides, though.
