Following initial reports from the English media regarding Atalanta’s interest in Everton fullback Ben Godfrey, it’s time for the Italian press to back that up.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio writes on his website that the Serie A side are offering around €8m for the player.
For now, there’s no information on whether that will be enough to convince Everton to sell.
Godfrey is entering his final year of contract with the Toffees, and is valued by Transfermarkt at €10m.
This season, he was of little use for Everton, with only 16 appearances made, despite getting a decent sequence of starts between February and March.
The whole situation has led to him being linked with a move away from Goodison Park. Back in January, the likes of Leeds United and Sheffield United were both said to be keen, with AC Milan and Atlético Madrid also rumoured to be chasing him.
Now with a whole summer window ahead, it seems there could be some more offers arriving at Everton. We shall soon get to see if Atalanta’s attempt was good enough.
