Claudio Lotito, frankly, won’t shut up this summer.
The Lazio president has been endlessly talking about the transfer window and his club’s efforts in it. Mason Greenwood has been the latest topic, and he’s told Lazio fans that if they want the club to make an offer higher than the €25m already proposed then they can fund it themselves.
Sunderland appear to also be within his sights, and Tuesday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport reports the Serie A side are considering a swoop for Jobe Bellingham.
The Italian newspaper says Lazio had been keen in January, when they were also looking at signing Jack Clarke, and there’s a belief Bellingham could be secured for around €13m.
Tottenham and Crystal Palace are also credited with interest, although there doesn’t appear to be anything serious in that regard.
One thing can be pretty certain. If Lazio, and therefore Lotito, do get into a serious effort to sign Bellingham from Sunderland then he’s likely to speak publicly and cockily about it.
