Benfica are keen to wrap up a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers full-back Ruben Vinagre once they’ve sold Nuno Tavares.

That’s according to A Bola, who say the Portuguese side are pushing Tavares towards the exit door so they can move for Vinagre.

The newspaper explains that they are in talks with Napoli over a deal for the 21-year-old left-back for around €15m, although negotiations are not easy at this point.

Southampton remain in the picture for the youngster, but at the minute, Napoli are best placed to get it over the line.

Benfica want to get a deal done before the start of pre-season, which is scheduled for Friday, and that urgency is because of their desire to ‘quickly hire’ his replacement.

That man is Wolves Vinagre, who was on loan at Famalicão in the second half of last season and impressed.

Contacts with Wolves are at an ‘advanced stage’, and the Reds believe they can close a deal ‘quickly’, although there is no mention of an asking price.

Sporting are also ‘in the running’, and a transfer there could ‘seduce’ the full-back, who seemingly has plenty of options to return to Portugal this summer.
