Atlético Madrid are eyeing a move for Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva as they look to make a ‘big splash’ in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to France Football, who say Diego Simeone is ’ogling’ the Portuguese star after wanting him for ‘many years’.

FF explain that the Colchoneros want to move up a gear after winning the La Liga title this season and are looking to make a name for themselves in Europe.

Having twice been beaten by their bitter rivals Real Madrid in the Champions League, they are ‘already busy’ on the transfer market building a squad worthy of Europe’s top club competition.

Simeone is therefore eyeing up Manchester City star Bernardo Silva, having already been interested in him back in 2016.

He faces ‘strong competition’ at the Etihad, and Atlético want to ‘seize the opportunity’ to lure the former Monaco midfielder to the Spanish capital.

They feel they can make good use of the ‘good relations’ they have with Silva’s agent Jorge Mendes, who ‘could facilitate the deal’.

In the event of a departure, Manchester City have already lined up a replacement in the shape of Jack Grealish, who is ‘one of the most attractive profiles’ for Pep Guardiola.
