Villarreal want €20m if they are to sell Arnaut Danjuma to Everton or Tottenham this month, with the player in England to discuss a move.
That’s according to COPE, who say the Spanish side want to recover the fee they paid to sign Danjuma from Bournemouth in August 2021.
Danjuma has been linked with a return to England over the last week or so, with reports that Villarreal are happy to let him go this month.
Everton have been linked with a move as they are desperate to reinforce their forward line this month after struggling for goals this season.
Tottenham are yet to be brought into the mix but a report today from El Periódico Mediterráneo stated the player was in England discussing a move.
That stated that a loan deal may be on the cards, at least as far as Everton are concerned as that is what they have proposed so far.
COPE cover that, stating that the Blues, Tottenham or Bournemouth are some of the favourite teams to get Danjuma’s signature at present.
However, according to their information, Villarreal’s objective is to ‘recover the outlay’ they made in August 2021 when their paid €20m to sign him from Bournemouth.
Whether that’s a figure they want immediately or would accept at a later date after a loan isn’t mentioned, but it is likely to cause problems for Everton given their limited finances.
Tottenham wouldn’t have the same problems, of course, if they are really in the picture for the Dutchman, who appears to be on his way back to England this month.
