With Chelsea heavily investing in their squad over the past year, this summer will be one of offloading at Stamford Brige,
One of the areas where some players could leave is in midfielder, with Corriere dello Sport claiming that’s something AC Milan will want to take advantage of.
They have set their sights on Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who is likely to be one of the casualties of the new Todd Boehly era.
Milan are ‘looking with great interest’ at players no longer wanted by Premier League clubs, and have ‘turned their radar’ on the England international.
It’s known that Chelsea ‘would like to sell some players’ in the next few months to reduce their wage bill, with Loftus-Cheek, described as a ‘giant surplus’ due to his physical size, expected to be among them.
That’s because he is ‘no longer a young man’, as he is already 27 and ready for a top league when he can fully express his talent on a regular basis.
The one issue that the Chelsea man will have to come to terms with is a reduction in salary, as Milan will not want to match his current €7m/year, which he receives on a contract lasting until next summer.
Something for him, and the Blues, to think about in the next few weeks, with the Serie A side clearly keeping an eye on his situation.
