Gazzetta dello Sport report Torino have joined the race to sign Giannelli Imbula from Stoke City. Since his move from Marseille to FC Porto, the midfielder has struggled to get on the right track and stay there.

A miserable time in Portugal was followed by an average period with Stoke which led to a Toulouse move on loan.

Big things were expected in France on the player’s return to the country, and Toulouse made a relatively big investment in the loan, but it again turned out rather underwhelming.

Now it’s time for transfer talk again, with it being unlikely either the player or Stoke will want to stay together for the coming Championship season.

A few days ago we covered claims from France of interest from Newcastle United and Crystal Palace.

Both Premier League clubs were said to be ‘seduced’ by the midfielder’s profile, and have enquired about his situation.

Covering interest from Serie A club Torino, Gazzetta dello Sport says the club will be up against Newcastle and Crystal Palace, echoing the French claims. If it wasn’t Gazzetta’s own information, they’d usually say so.
