Inter Milan were left annoyed by Leicester City’s efforts to change the deal for Stefano Sensi at the last minute, hence the move collapsing.
That’s according to Tuttosport, relayed L’Interista, who provide details on why the move fell through despite being on the verge of being completed for much of January.
They explain that the midfielder was ‘practically one step away’ from joining Leicester, having flown to England to carry out his medical tests and sign his deal with the Foxes.
However, right at the death, those in charge at Leicester ‘were not convinced’ by the costs involved in the operation and asked a discount from Inter on the €2.5m deal they’d agreed.
The initial agreement between the two clubs would have seen the Foxes pay €500,000 for an initial loan and, in the event of promotion back to the Premier League, another €2m.
They decided they didn’t want that deal anymore and tried to change it, although Tuttosport do not say how. Inter refused that but ‘tried to please’ Leicester nonetheless but were ultimately unsuccessful in their attempts to do so.
Thus, the deal fell through, leaving Sensi and Leicester boss Enzo Maresca, who had specially asked for the signing of the midfielder, disappointed.
