Bayern Munich director sporting director Christoph Freund has continued the charm offensive on Harry Kane as rumours of a return to Tottenham continue.
Fussball Transfers cover comments from him today after Kane’s latest brace in the 5-1 win over Pafos FC in the Champions League.
Kane has started this season on fire, with 17 goals and three assists in nine games so far including his latest double.
The spotlight is very much on the England captain at this moment in time. His current deal with Bayern expires in 2027 and he is yet to sign an extension to that contract.
That’s led to talk of a possible exit and there’s been rumours of a return to Tottenham. They have a clause to buy him back as part of the original deal to sell him to Bayern.
That has been heavily discussed over the last two weeks, particularly after Thomas Frank welcomed Kane back with open arms.
Bayern have rallied against it publicly, determined to show a calm public face despite there being a clear panic. They want to keep Kane long-term and have made that clear. Now Freund has turned to the charm offensive amid the Tottenham rumours.
“Every three days, you can see how incredibly important he is to the team and how much joy and pleasure he gets from playing football,” he said.
“(He’s) an important factor for FC Bayern, and we are very happy to have him. We hope it stays that way for a long time.”
