Feyenoord have managed to keep Arne Slot away from Tottenham Hotspur, according to De Telegraaf.

Spurs have been without a permanent manager after showing the exit door to Antonio Conte in March and have identified the 44-year-old as the main target to replace the Italian.

Earlier claims stated Slot’s agent Rafaela Pimenta was set to hold negotiations with the Dutch club on Wednesday over a move to Tottenham.

After these talks, the Eredivisie winners have managed to keep Slot ‘out of the clutches’ of the north London club. The manager who guided them to a league success this season will continue at Feyenoord.

It’s claimed the Dutchman will receive an improved contract from Feyenoord and his assistants are expected to stay at the club.

Pimenta met with Feyenoord general manager Dennis te Kloese yesterday and Slot has now said the meeting had nothing to do with a potential move to Tottenham. Amid interest from Spurs, he’s now revealed his desire to continue with his current employer.

“I have heard a lot about the interest of other clubs in me. I am grateful for the appreciation that this expresses, but my wish is to stay with Feyenoord and continue to build on the foundations that have been laid over the past two seasons,” he told Algemeen Dagblad.

“There are no transfer talks going on and there have been none, and yesterday’s discussion was solely about a possible extension. All conversations with Feyenoord are only aimed at that. I look forward to the new season at Feyenoord.”

Amid interest from Tottenham, Slot ‘will stay’ at Feyenoord. The London club will have to now look elsewhere to find Conte’s successor.
