AC Milan are keen on a move for Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic and they see the Serbian as a signing who can help get them get back to the top.
Matic has been playing an increasingly lesser role at United under Ole Gunnar Solskjær and finds himself down the pecking order at the club.
An exit has been mooted for some time, with Inter Milan suggested as a destination on more than one occasion.
They are not the only ones, though, with Gazzetta Dello Sport reporting AC Milan are eyeing him up as part of a ‘precise strategy’ to get back to the top.
The newspaper says Matic is on the club’s wish list but ‘you will have to see’ if that desire becomes a reality in future.
Matic has already ‘won the hearts’ with his performances in the past, and they believe he could be as significant a signing as Mark van Bommel proved to be in 2011.
There is a view that Matic, who is described as a ‘complete midfielder’ would not only add someone who can ‘dictate the pace’ for Milan but also help to bring the best out of other players, namely Ismaël Bennacer.
The suggestion seems to be that the club would wait and secure Matić on a free, with his contract expiring next summer, although selling Franck Kessie could help them to ‘lunge’ for Matic before that.
