With Roberto De Zerbi taking charge of Marseille, it seems he’s eyeing the Premier League for some of his first reinforcements at the French side.
According to L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 side are interested in signing Hee-chan Hwang from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
It’s said that the 28-year-old is on Marseille’s wish list, and the signing was approved by De Zerbi.
The French club are still to open negotiations with Wolves for the transfer, though, and it’s actually said it will ‘not be easy’ to take Hwang out of England. Both because of the price, and due to the fact that his contract with the Molineux side runs until 2028.
Hwang is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €25m, and Gary O’Neil’s side stand in a good position to negotiate.
Since the operation seems to be in the very early stages, it not only remains to be seen how much Wolves would demand for the transfer, but also if Hwang would be keen on leaving them to join Marseille. That’s something we should get to know in the coming weeks, as the market is just heating up.
