Lyon have identified Chelsea’s Benoît Badiashile as their ‘priority’ target for January.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who state the Ligue 1 side will have €50m to bolster the squad and the figure could rise if some of their players were to be sold next month.
Lyon have their eyes set on the Chelsea player for the defence and are ‘very interested’ in his profile.
The Blues invested €37m in securing his services from AS Monaco at the start of this calendar year. He has made 16 appearances for the west London club, out of which five of them are from this season, where he has managed a goal and an assist.
Badiashile had struggled with injuries at the start of the season and it forced him to wait until November to make his first appearance of the campaign.
The France international has made four appearances in Chelsea’s last five league games but that hasn’t stopped him from being linked with a move back to his country. He knows Ligue 1 well and that gives him an advantage, if he were to join Lyon.
Foot Mercato also explain that Lyon have a good relationship with Mauricio Pochettino’s side, after having sold Malo Gusto to them. This, therefore, may help the French club in a potential deal for Badiashile next month.
Shortly after that, Foot Mercato journalist Dahbia Hattabi added that, down the player’s end, he feels ‘very good’ at Stamford Bridge, where they don’t intend to let him go in the January transfer window.
