RB Leipzig are ‘very interested’ in Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun as he is cheaper than their other target Jonathan David.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenburg, who says the striker would be valued at €40m following his performances this season.
Balogun has been on loan with Stade Reims in France this season, moving from Arsenal on a temporary basis in search of regular playing time to aid his development.
He’s certainly found that, establishing himself in the first team and starring, bagging 19 goals and three assists in 31 games in all competitions so far.
That has set up a potential issue in the summer for Arsenal, who will have to decide whether to keep the player and use him in Mikel Arteta’s squad next season or move him on.
If they decide to do the latter there is interest from RB Leipzig, who are eyeing the forward as a potential addition in the summer.
They had been looking at Jonathan David, but he is valued at around €65m and that is ‘too expensive’ for the German side’s tastes.
Balogun’s ‘price valuation is at least €40m’, though, a much more palatable figure for those in charge at Leipzig, who are now ‘very interested’ in his signature.
Whether Arsenal will sell isn’t yet known, but at that figure they would be set for a major profit on a player who has come through their youth ranks.
Leipzig are not the only interested party, though, with there being ‘a lot of competition’ from top clubs in Europe for the 21-year-old’s signature after his performances this season.
News #Balogun: Price valuation from Leipzig is at least €40m. The price tag of Jonathan #David is around €65m. David is too expensive for Leipzig at this stage. RB bosses very interested in Balogun but a lot of competition from top clubs. @philipphinze24 @SkySportDE 🏴 pic.twitter.com/ehbHzj4Ge7
