João Cancelo has struggled for regular minutes in his first six months at Manchester City as he has been restricted to only four league starts this season.
Earlier today, we carried a report from Mundo Deportivo explaining Valencia are planning to sign the right-back in the winter market and Los Ches owner Peter Lim is said to be discussing about the 25-year-old with his agent, Jorge Mendes.
Another report then explained Valencia’s president and the coordinator of the technical team travelled to Manchester to hold talks with Pep Guardiola’s side about the defender. The La Liga side feel it’s ‘very difficult’ to get the deal over the line.
Valencia are not the only club chasing the player as Bild explains Bayern Munich are ‘interested’ in him.
The European giants’ idea is to bring in a new right-back so that it can allow Joshua Kimmich can be moved to the defensive midfield position and Benjamin Pavard to be used in the heart of the back four.
It’s claimed the Bundesliga winners have good reports about Cancelo and they are of the belief the Portugal international would prefer a move to Germany in January after limited playing time at City.
Bild also mention Cancelo isn’t the only right-back target as they are also looking at AS Monaco’s Benjamin Henrichs.
