Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumaré is a potential target for Napoli as they eye up reinforcements for their midfield.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say Soumaré could be joining the exodus from Leicester in the coming weeks.
They explain that Napoli are ‘very interested’ in a deal for the 24-year-old thanks to new manager Rudi Garcia, who is ‘crazy about’ the player.
He is someone that the new Napoli coach appreciates and talks between the two parties have already taken place ahead of a potential move.
Indeed, these are described as being ‘very positive exchanges’ and the Italian champions have made it known that they are interested in signing him.
Soumaré would be more than keen on the switch given he’d be swapping Championship football for Serie A and the Champions League.
Torino are also interested and there is a belief that other suitors will soon step forward for the midfielder before the end of the transfer window.
At the moment, though, Leicester are yet to name an asking price for Soumaré and are known to be ‘tough in business’.
That remains the case this summer, despite a well reported need to sell players this summer and help balance the books following relegation from the Premier League.
A deal needs to be worked on, then, but Napoli are keen nonetheless and have held positive first talks regarding the potential transfer this summer.
