Real Madrid are ‘intensifying their interest’ in Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen to make themselves favourites for his signature this summer.
That’s according to journalist José Félix Díaz for Marca, relayed by El Desmarque, who covers the player and the growing interest in him.
They explain that Huijsen has become one the ‘main novelties’ of the Spanish selection for this international break as he’s been called up by Spain thanks to his superb performances for Bournemouth.
Real Madrid are aware of his rising talent and are now intensifying their efforts to ensure they are positioned as favourites for the summer.
They want a centre-back in the summer after struggling in that area this season and have written Huijsen’s name ‘in red’ ahead of the window opening.
He fits into to their pans for ‘creating a young and future project’ and would be warmly welcomed as he now appears to be one of Spain’s rising talents.
They’ve even gone as far as to invite the player’s father and team of representatives to visit the club’s sports city, chat with the club and learn about the atmosphere. This was revealed in Joaquín Maroto points for AS.
Indeed, he would not be surprised if the Spanish side did make their move, as he revealed in comments to Ramon Alvarez.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Real Madrid signed Dean Huijsen this summer, because the club has taken a decisive step,” he said.
“They’ve invited the boy’s father to visit Valdebebas. He’s already been there.”
The question is how much he would cost, with Bournemouth very likely to demand a top fee given the growing interest in their man.
Several reports have indicated there may be a €50m clause in his current deal, which would provide them with a major profit given he cost €15.2m last summer.
That’s still a considerable sum, even for Madrid, and it remains to be seen if they’re happy to pay it even as his star continues to rise.
