Even though it had been a while since the Brazilian media last spoke of Brighton & Hove Albion’s interest in Maycon, we get to see that pursuit being mentioned again today.
The midfielder’s loan from Shakhtar Donetsk to Corinthians expires on the 31st of December, and as reported by Globo Esporte, this is a ‘decisive week’ for his future.
Corinthians are currently trying to extend his spell at the club, and among the difficulties for that deal, there’s Brighton’s presence in the fight to sign him.
What plays on Brighton’s side is that Shakhtar Donetsk are not interested in loaning the midfielder again. That’s the only way Corinthians could keep him, so if the Ukrainian club decide they’d only sell the player, then the Premier League side should have an advantage.
Maycon’s return to Shakhtar is nearly ruled out, as he already told them he’s not interested in that. That’s why the club are set to look for a solution in January.
Brighton’s interest in the player is related to Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival at the club, since he worked with the midfielder in his time in charge of the the Ukrainian side.
