VfB Stuttgart are showing an interest in Burnley Ameen Al-Dakhil and Southampton’s Armel Bella-Kotchap as they seek a new central defender.
That’s according to Sky Sport Germany, who say the Burnley and Southampton men are being targeted as replacements for Waldemar Anton.
They explain that Stuttgart are continuing their hunt for a new centre-back and ‘a hot lead leads to England’.
The Swabians are already in negotiations with Burnley about Al-Dakhil, but no agreement has been reached as yet.
Talks with the Belgian defender are already further along and have already have an agreement in principle with the 22-year-old. He can well imagine playing football in Stuttgart.
There is competition for his signature, with Sevilla and VfL Wolfsburg also putting the Burnley man on their list.
In addition to Al-Dakhil, Stuttgart are also considering a move for Southampton’s Armel Bella-Kotchap. He is a ‘topic of discussion’ at the club after they made an offer for him a few weeks ago.
At that point they were outdone by TSG Hoffenheim but that move didn’t work out. The player’s verbal agreement with the player still stands, though.
That could facilitate a deal if they need to turn to the Southampton man, although the focus appears to be on getting Al-Dakhil from Burnley first.
