West Ham United’s offer for Lucas Paquetá was not accepted by Lyon, according to the latest reports from France.
L’Equipe now comes up to say that, according to their information, the attempt from the Hammers was ‘immediately rejected’ by the Ligue 1 side, who want more for the player.
It’s said West Ham’s offer was close to €50m, with bonuses added. But the French side explain that the positions ‘were quite far apart’, as they expect ‘at least’ an additional €10m.
The report claims that Paquetá, who trained ‘normally’ today, has no financial agreement with the Hammers yet. David Moyes’ side will ‘certainly have to make very big efforts on salary’ to attract him to London, even though the player is ‘not against’ the idea of a move to London. According to the story, the next few days ‘will be decisive’ for both the Brazilian and Lyon.
Even though L’Equipe already report the rejection, French outlet RMC Sport are still talking about the bid. They managed to confirm West Ham’s attempt with their sources from Lyon, and were told by person at the club that “it’s even a little above’ the initial €40m.
Earlier today, we’d already covered claims from Brazil which said Lyon’s idea was to find a deal between €55m and €60m.
