Inter Milan will ‘immediately’ go after West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek if the Hammers don’t sort out his contract situation soon.
That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb and journalist Niccolo Ceccarini, who says the Champions League finalists are ready to move to get their man.
Soucek is set to enter the final six months of his contract with West Ham on January 1st, meaning he will be free to start pre-contract negotiations under the Bosman ruling with clubs around Europe.
That’s unless West Ham take up an option to extend his deal by another year, which they are yet to do despite the player remaining a key player under David Moyes.
Until they do so, the threat of him departing remains and several clubs are thought to be keen, none more so than Inter Milan, who have been linked on and off for months given the midfielder could be available on a free.
They reportedly see him as a good option to add to their squad and Ceccarini backs that up, stating that they will ‘immediately’ go for the Czech Republic star ‘if he doesn’t find an agreement to continue his adventure at West Ham’.
That suggests that the two parties need to find an agreement on an extension and seems to ignore the fact that West Ham have an option to extend by a year.
Perhaps what they really mean is that Inter will jump if the Hammers don’t make it clear they’ll take up their option, although they have all the time in the world to do so at this point.
