Striker Georginio Rutter ‘might return on loan’ to former club TSG Hoffenheim this summer as he has not been happy at Elland Road since his move in January.
That’s according to Frankfurter Rundschau, who say the German club ‘have the idea’ that Rutter may be available on a temporary basis.
Rutter left Hoffenheim in the January transfer window, with Leeds paying €28m to sign him that month as they looked to bolster their squad and avoid relegation.
He failed to make any sort of impact before the end of last season, though, with just one assist in 13 appearances and just 403 minutes of action in total.
That report explained Rutter had a verbal agreement in place with former Leeds director of football Victor Orta that he could leave on loan this summer if they were relegated. Unlike several other stars in the squad, he does not have it written into his contract.
FR follow that up today and say that ‘in the back room’ at Hoffenheim those in charge ‘have the idea’ that Rutter might return on loan.
He is a former crowd favourite at the German club and ‘has not been happy in England’ since making the move there in January. It is seemingly that, coupled with the complete overhaul post relegation, which has put the idea into Hoffenheim’s mind.
Whether that means a deal is there to be done remains to be seen but it’s an idea which seems to be growing in Germany, nonetheless.
