Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa in the January transfer window, despite plans to be ‘very active’ on the market.
That’s according to Area Napoli, who say President Aurelio de Laurentiis is ‘monitoring many names’ and the Liverpool outcast is one of them.
Chiesa has barely been seen at Liverpool since joining from Juventus in the summer as the Reds only signing under Arne Slot so far.
He’s been deemed far below the required fitness levels and is thus outside of the Dutchman’s plans at this moment in time.
Numerous reports have linked him with an immediate return to Italy, perhaps on loan, with Napoli one of the sides potentially keen on him.
Area Napoli say the Liverpool man is one of De Laurentiis’ ‘favourite players’ and manager Antonio Conte also likes him. Napoli, though, are not aiming to make a ‘decisive assault’ in the January window.
That’s because they’re more than aware of his physical problems and would be coming in to a team that is already ‘particularly nourished’ when it comes to offensive players.
Instead the transfer idea will ‘probably be discussed’ again in the summer if his situation at Liverpool hasn’t improved and he wants out of Anfield.
